Stay Up to Date with Pickleball Trends

Quarterly Meeting (All players) Wednesday June 14 @ 4:00 pm Pickaway county ymca

PCPA is building awareness of the sport

After privately funding and building two pickleball courts at Barthelmas Park in 2021, the association is focused on building interest in the sport of pickleball.  The interest in the sport of Pickleball continues to grow! The Pickaway County Pickleball Association (PCPA) is  capacity at the YMCA, Barthelmas Park and now building interest at the Evert's Sports Center. As a result, we continue our work to seek funding to build more courts within our community while raising awareness of the health benefits of the sport and assisting the surrounding area clubs. We have also been involved at various levels in assisting the building of new courts in multiple communities other than Pickaway county. It is great to see others joining in the fun through the sport of pickleball.

Frequently Asked Questions about pickleball

No, we help and encourage each other. So...if it's been a while...you haven't exercised lately...join us to experience the best sport you've never played. You will be welcomed when you step on the pickleball court; you will play with people who say, "Great shot", "Way to go"; and socialize while having fun. The underlying theme though is your overall fitness and wellness as you can easily get 2000-4500 steps in a workout session. All this while having fun through pickleball!

We are a group of pickleball enthusiasts of various ages (grandkids to seniors) who are focused on bringing people of all ages together to discover and experience the health and wellness benefits found through playing Pickleball courts. We have a wide range of playing experience, (2 months - 10 years) but we still have fun playing.

That's OK! There are a couple pickleball videos provided especially for you on the resources page! When you join us on the court, you will learn the basics of pickleball, (e.g. grip, how to serve, how to keep score). As you experience personal growth in technique, you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge with others while getting the aerobic activity you've been missing.

Don’t Some People Just Play to Win?

The welcoming atmosphere of pickleball makes it unique among all sports in that other players provide support and encouragement for each other. This trait is found in almost every community where we have played. Within our Ohio community, we have aligned with several surrounding area groups and travel to play with them also. pickleball courts This is pickleball!  The sport goes beyond the courts and includes people like you. Sign up for our players list and learn how you too can experience the sport with over a 650% growth rate while increasing your fitness level and overall wellness.

What is Pickleball’s Philosophy

We believe in sportsmanship first. Pickleball involves integrity. It is up to you to make the right call, "was the ball out or in"? When in doubt, show grace! The sport is the game, and we are all in it for fun and exercise. While the environment is a sport which involves competition, it is just as important for everyone to experience growth also while having fun. To accomplish this, we collaborate with professional organizations to bring in pro pickleball players to teach clinics. We welcome and encourage players of all levels as we strive to increase the awareness of pickleball as a sport and make additional pickleball courts available to everyone.
